2. The cub belonged to the Memphis baseball team. 3. The team gave Natch to the City and Park Commission. 4. The Commission had no cages, so they tied the cub to a tree in the city park. 5. Some people found Natch tied to the tree. 6. They went back home and told their friends about the little cub. 7. Very soon everybody in Memphis knew about Natch. 8. The cub drew lots of people to the park. 9. He became the favorite pet of all Memphis. 10. Children laid food for him at the foot of the tree. 11. Adults brought more animals to keep him company. 12. The authorities held meetings to decide the fate of the animals. 13. At first they payed a park keeper to feed the animals. 14. Then they built houses for the animals and hired a zookeeper. 15. In 1906 Memphis Zoo came into being.
