Languages are a precious thing, it’s what connects us, humans, with one another. We’ve always had language to guide us, even back in the prehistoric era. Languages help build a sense of community and it strengthens our bonds.
Learning foreign languages is as important as knowing our own language. Knowing a foreign language can help us connect with people we normally wouldn’t talk to. It is also useful for our careers. Your chances of getting a good job get considerably higher when you know a foreign language, not only because you will be able to serve more people, but also because you may get a job in another country. Being able to travel comfortably is also another good reason for knowing another language. You will be able to communicate with the locals and connect with the history and culture of the country you are visiting. Sure, translated stuff is nice and all, but nothing beats the real thing. My last reason for why foreign languages are useful and something we need in our lives is friendship. It may sound silly, but having friends all over the world is great. Human kindness is not something we should take for granted, and learning a foreign language to communicate with many different people is a great opportunity to experience everything humanity has to offer.
In conclusion, everybody needs to know at least one foreign language, be it for business, traveling or personal fulfillment reasons.
